Body Positivity, Self-Love And Confidence

For many of us, body confidence and self-love isn’t something that comes naturally to us. For whatever reason, whether it be a genetic influence, negative experiences in the past, or a knock on effect from the media and the society around us, it can sometimes be difficult to find ourselves in a confident mindset and a huge factor of this is how we see ourselves.

When you wake up in the morning and you catch your reflection in a mirror, what is your first thought? Be honest!

If it’s “Damn! This person staring back at me looks like they can take on the world, conquer their fears and achieve their wildest dreams all in one day” then all I can say is, you have this self-confidence thing in the bag, you are rocking it!

If that’s not the first thing that comes to mind… or the second… or the third, I can assure you, you’re not alone. The way we see ourselves both physically and mentally has a massive impact on how we carry ourselves, our thought processes and how we tackle the challenges we face in life. We actually talk about this in a whole lot more detail in our new program, Vision to Reality, if this is something you struggle with.

Body positivity and self-confidence, without a doubt, go hand in hand. Self-love and acceptance are huge barriers for a lot of people and when we find ourselves surrounded by images of beautiful Instagram models, stunning actresses and performing artists, filters on our friends’ photos online, it’s so easy to start to compare ourselves to unattainable standards.

If you don’t see yourself in a positive light, you may very well be putting obstacles and limiting beliefs in your way, and stopping yourself from reaching the goals that you so truly deserve to reach.

The good news is that there is so much more of a spotlight on body positivity and self-love in the media today. There are people from all different industries fighting to spread the message that you can and you SHOULD be confident in your own skin. You’re only given one body in life, and the moment you embrace it, and love it, along with the amazing talents you already hold, the way you view the world and everything in it will have the most fantastic impact on your life.

My 5 Favourite Self-Love Quotes

Here are some quotes from a bunch of amazing women which I hope will inspire you to smile at yourself when you look in the mirror tomorrow morning.

“I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself.” – Emma Stone

“Since I don’t look like every other girl, it takes a while to be OK with that. To be different. But different is good.” – Serena Williams

“Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.” – Beyonce

Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.” – Marilyn Monroe

“Feeling beautiful has nothing to do with what you look like.” – Emma Watson

We are all different, we are all beautiful and we are all totally capable of doing anything we want to do!

A tea-drinking, yoga-loving, glass-half-full kind of girl. With a background in events management, as well as having spent a large portion of her life revolving around the performing arts, she loves writing about anything to do with organisation, self-discipline, health and heart fulfilling hobbies. She's also a passionate advocate for reading, watching, listening to whatever sets a spark inside. Although she's usually a go-with-the-flow person, since becoming a mother, mum-life means she often has to put her calm, collected and organised hat on - life is definitely a balancing act, but that's what makes it interesting!
